Post Operative Instructions

Dear Parents:

To ease your child’s discomfort after extractions, please follow these guidelines:

1. Change gauze as they become saturated: oozing should last about ½ an hour.

2. Give Motrin or Tylenol for the pain.

3. Give soft foods for a couple of days: scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, yogurts, etc. Make sure the food is not too hot or cold.

4. Nothing through a straw.

5. First day is a couch potato day: no biking, hiking, boarding, running, jumping, etc.

6. Child will be numb: Please make sure your child does not bite, chew, or scratch on their lip, cheek, and tongue.

7. Numbness should wear off in 1-2 hours.

PLEASE call with any questions or concerns: 480-457-1693.
